Paris, Je t'aime

Posted by Picasa

I am taking the 15:00 Paris-Lyon TGV today... it only takes two hours to get from one city to the other... am I silly if I wish it would take just a little bit longer because I love riding the train?

I will be staying with my friends Laure and Sophie (they are no longer roomies but luckily they live within a ten-minute walk of each other!) I am so excited to see the girls again, to meet Laure's seven-month old daughter, Lilas, and to be in my favourite city for the first time in six years! When it comes to me and Paris, there's never enough time... I'll just have to make do with ten days on this visit. Then it's back to Lyon and on with the job search... but let's not think about that quite yet, shall we?

For the moment, Paris, here I come!

En Peugeot... let's go!

As you can see, Francois and I covered a lot of territory on our road trip through the south-east and in the French Alps. Tons and tons of photos coming up... stay tuned!

Déjà une semaine!

I've been in France for one week now... seven glorious days of sleeping in, eating pains au chocolat for breakfast, admiring the view from Francois' parents' deck (I thought I'd miss my English Bay view, but so far... nope!), having wine at lunch, maybe a little walk (or nap!) in the afternoon, then dinner, and salad, and cheese, and dessert... Lest you think I'm a total sloth, I have also been out exploring Pommiers (Francois' hometown of 2000 people, located about 30 minutes from Lyon) and a lot of the surrounding villages. It's beautiful here. I feel like I'm walking around a movie set, to tell you the truth. So scenic!

Bien arrivée en France!

So here I am in France (hooray!) with a whole year of adventures ahead of me! In anticipation of all the wine-drinking, cheese- tasting, baguette-buying and escargot-avoiding experiences to come, I have decided to start a blog. This way I can share my stories and photos with you. How do you say "geek" en français?
